(Re) establishing family routines with goal setting

With the summer season officially over, and the start to a new school year this is a great time tore(establish) routines with some goals with your family!

As working moms, we thrive on  personal goal setting. From work goals to personal goals we make sure that we establish self discipline and establish our routines and expectations for ourselves. So why not for our families?  Family goal setting presents as an important opportunity for establishing routines, creating changes , establishing structures and aspiring to accomplishing something together with all the members of your household.

To attain successful family goals making sure that they are:

  1.  SMART Goals (specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, timely)

  2. Establish long term goals and short term goals.

  3. Relevant to your family’s needs

  4. Consistent to your family

  5. Supportive of your family’s success

  6. Fun and Exciting

When creating your goals be mindful of:

  1. Stressors that may impact your family’s ability to set, maintain or be consistent with the changes and restructure.

  2. Strengths of your family and your family members

  3. Relevancy and Consistency

Examples of Goals

  1. Family vacation

  2. Weeknight routines

  3. Screen time

  4. Curfew

  5. Family dinner
