hold space for yourself
When was the last time you thought about holding space for yourself? As a mom, wife, professional recently it has been increasingly difficult to answer this question. I faced a-lot of challenges during this lent period that not only tested my faith but tested my ability to hold space for myself, to take care of me in a way that would bring forgiveness , healing and positive resilience.
What does holding space mean? As a Christian, for me, holding space for myself is the practice of carving out time and energy to prioritize my current needs, emotions, and well-being. It involves acknowledging my feelings without judgment, setting boundaries to protect my mental health and emotional health and most importantly, giving myself permission to feel and heal. Although my journey is still ongoing, I focus on a daily devotional (my go to is Sarah Jakes Roberts, All Hope Is Found) that allows for me to be reflective, and permit myself to feel in the moment. With the fluctuations of my days it is difficult to commit the same amount of time every day, my consistency with committing every day to a devotional and a section of a chapter gives me a moment to clear my head and get to know me as I am now.
